Elizabeth “Betty” Mary Wardle, 82, of Noblesville, Indiana passed away peacefully surrounded by her family and friends on Tuesday, June 18, 2019 at the home of her daughter, MaryAnn Lampo.

Funeral services are to be held for Betty at Georgia National Cemetery in Canton, Georgia on Wednesday, June 26, 2019 at 3:00 pm officiated by Michael Faubion. She will be put to rest with her spouse of 59 years, Bill Wardle, who preceded her in death on May 21, 2017.

Betty was born in Marystown, Newfoundland, Canada February 28, 1937 to Vincent and Sarah Stapleton. She moved at age 20 as a nanny of a military family to Montgomery, Alabama. There she met the love of her life, Bill Wardle. She married him, moved to DeRidder, LA, and Sulphur, LA, and back to DeRidder where she raised her family. She was a housewife and farmwife prior to moving to Woodstock, Georgia where she was employed at Atlanta Country Club until retirement.

Betty was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt, and most of all, friend to all. She is survived by her daughter MaryAnn (Tom) Lampo of Noblesville, Indiana; and son David (Melody) Wardle of Loganville, Georgia. She had five granddaughters, one grandson, and six great grandchildren. She was survived by four sisters; Isabel (Tom) Michalak of Ontario, Canada; Patricia (Gene) Rutledge of Woodstock, Georgia; Ann (Ed) Marietta of Acworth, Georgia; Gertie (Garnet) Tracey of Nova Scotia, Canada; two brothers Vincent (Nora) Stapleton of Marystown, Newfoundland, Canada; Chester (Mercedes) Stapleton of Mount Pearl, Newfoundland, Canada; and many loving nieces, nephews, and extended family.

Betty was preceded in death by her son, Billy Wardle, husband, father, and mother.

The family would like to express their deepest appreciation to Paradigm Hospice, Becky the music therapist, Angela the massage therapist, and Amy her nurse for all their love and care. Also, the family expresses their deepest gratitude to Bright Star agency caregivers: Claudette, Helen, and Marie for caring for Betty like their own mother.

Even though I have not seen Betty in a while, she was and will always be on my mind. Betty was such a kind, loving mother who always had a smile that would light up a room. I was so lucky to have her in my life. I have fond childhood memories of spending the summers on the farm in DeRidder with MaryAnn, David, and Mr. Wardle, picking peppers at the crack of dawn. After we were done, I always looked forward to enjoying Betty’s cooking. Nothing could beat her meals with homegrown vegetables, fresh cow’s milk and everything else made from scratch.

I love you Betty Wardle and will miss you dearly but you will always have a place in my heart Now God gets to enjoy the company of such a special person as you and I know Mr. Wardle is happy that you will be joining him in Heaven.

So sorry for your loss of your mother, MaryAnn and David. I love you and will keep you in my thoughts and prayers during this difficult time in your life.

I am so sorry to hear of the death of Betty. The passing away of a loved one is always with much sorrow. May we have faith and confidence in the Bible’s promise of a time when pain, sickness and death are a thing of the past (Revelation 21:3, 4). My condolences are with the family at this difficult time.
